Questions
You might be
wondering...
Choosing a photograph — and deciding what you would like to do with it — can bring up a few questions. Here are the things people usually want to know.
Before you send a photograph
Let’s start with the photo.
What kind of photograph works best? +
Photographs with reasonably clear faces usually give us the most to work with. A little space around the people can help too.
But don’t rule out a photograph just because it is old or imperfect. If it means something to you, send it and we’ll take a look.
Does the photograph have to be old? +
Not at all. Old family photographs are a lovely fit for Rememoir, but a more recent photograph can be just as meaningful.
What if my photograph is faded or damaged? +
That doesn’t necessarily rule it out. Photo Restoration is a service in its own right, and suitable photographs can often be improved by reducing fading, scratches, marks, creases and other signs of age.
You can choose restoration simply to keep, share or print the finished image, or a restored photograph can later become the starting point for a Rememoir.

Should I scan the photograph? +
A good scan is ideal, but don’t worry if you don’t have a scanner. A clear, well-lit photograph of the original print can work too.
Send the largest and clearest copy you have.
Do I pay when I send the photograph? +
No. Sending us a photograph is simply the first step. We’ll look at it and come back to you before any work begins.
There’s nothing to pay at this stage and no obligation to go ahead.
Creating your Rememoir
What happens to the moment?
How long is a Rememoir? +
The standard Rememoir brings one photograph gently to life for around ten seconds.
If you want to tell a longer story, the Rememoir Montage starts with four photographs and brings their individual moments together into one longer keepsake.
Will my Rememoir have sound? +
Where it suits the photograph, yes. Sound can make a moment feel wonderfully alive.
It might be a little laugh, birds in a garden, waves rolling onto a beach, the quiet hum of bees amongst flowers or a distant church bell. We keep it gentle and appropriate to the scene.
Can I tell you what I would like to happen? +
Absolutely. When you send your photograph, there’s space to tell us who is in it and anything you would like us to know about the moment.
We’ll keep your ideas in mind, while also being honest if we think a slightly different movement or approach would suit the photograph better.
Can you make the people speak? +
Rememoir is about small, natural moments rather than putting invented words into someone’s mouth. We prefer smiles, glances, laughter and sounds that belong naturally to the setting.
Will every photograph turn out the same? +
No — and we wouldn’t want them to. Every photograph is different. The faces, setting, age and quality of the image all help shape what will work best.
That’s why we look at your photograph before you decide whether to go ahead.
What if I’m not happy with the result? +
Talk to us. If something doesn’t feel right, we’ll look at it with you and do our best to make reasonable adjustments to the service we agreed.

Can I add a personal message? +
Yes. The Rememoir Gift and Montage both allow you to add a personal opening message and closing dedication. The Gift also includes music and sound as part of the finished experience.
Your words can be as simple as “To Mum, Merry Christmas” or something more personal to your family.
Can I give a Rememoir as a gift? +
Yes. The Rememoir Gift is our signature gifting experience, with a personal opening message, music and sound, a closing dedication, private viewing page and QR keepsake link.
It can work beautifully for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day or simply because there is something you want to say.
What is the QR keepsake card? +
The QR keepsake link gives the person receiving a Rememoir Gift a simple way to return to their private viewing page from a phone. Scan the code and their Rememoir is there to watch again.
It also gives a digital gift something that can be placed inside a card or given to someone in person.
Can you bring several photographs together? +
Yes. The Rememoir Montage starts with four photographs. Each photograph is given its own moment, with natural movement and sound, before the photographs are brought together into one flowing keepsake with your opening message, closing dedication and music between moments where appropriate.
How will I receive my Rememoir? +
Your finished Rememoir is delivered through a private viewing experience, with the finished digital video available for you to keep. Rememoir Gift also includes a QR keepsake link that makes it easy to return to the private page from a phone.
How long will it take? +
We’ll give you an expected timescale before you decide to go ahead. Some photographs are straightforward; others may need restoration or a little more care.
We’d rather give you a realistic timescale for your photograph than promise the same turnaround for every order.
Your photograph
A few things you may want to know.
Will you share my photograph publicly? +
Not unless you give us permission. Your photograph, restored image and finished Rememoir remain private to your request, and public sharing is never assumed.
What happens to my photograph after I send it? +
We use the photograph to review your request and, if you decide to go ahead, to provide the Rememoir or Photo Restoration service you have chosen.
Our Privacy Policy explains the fuller details about how photographs and personal information are handled.

Do I need permission to send the photograph? +
You should have the right or permission needed to submit the photograph for the service you are asking us to provide.
Still wondering about something?
Just ask us.
There are no silly questions. You don’t need to know which package is right, and you don’t need to send a photograph before getting in touch. If you would rather show us the image and ask what we think, that’s absolutely fine too.
No payment is needed to ask us or send a photograph. We’ll look first, come back to you, and nothing begins unless you decide to go ahead.
