Fading
Recovering balance, contrast and definition from photographs that have become pale over time.
Photo restoration
Time can leave its mark on a photograph. Fading, scratches, creases and lost colour can often be carefully reduced while preserving the character of the image you remember.
Original → Restored
What can be improved?
Fading, scratches and years of handling can all leave their mark. Often, there’s much more of the original photograph there than you might think.
Recovering balance, contrast and definition from photographs that have become pale over time.
Reducing distracting scratches, spots and surface damage where the image gives us enough information.
Improving faded colour or carefully introducing natural colour to suitable black-and-white photographs.
Bringing a little more definition back to softer photographs while keeping them looking natural.

Where restoration can lead
We carefully prepare the photograph and reduce suitable signs of age or damage.
The restored image can become the starting point for your moving Rememoir.
A suitable restored photograph can also be prepared for print and enjoyed away from a screen.
Our approach
A restoration should still feel like your photograph. Our aim is not to make an old image look artificially new, but to reduce the distractions that time has added.
We’ll always be honest
We can often do wonderful things with an old photograph, but sometimes a detail has simply faded away or been damaged beyond recognition.
Where enough of the original remains, we may be able to carefully rebuild part of the image. We’ll always be clear when something has been recreated rather than simply restored.
If we don’t think we can achieve a result worth having, we’ll tell you.
It may not be beyond saving
Send us the best copy you have and we’ll take a look. There’s nothing to pay at this stage and no obligation to go ahead.
